Resources for Employers

Draw the World into Your Workplace
The Petroleum HR Council has long recognized the need for the petroleum industry to diversify its labour force to meet the growing need for skilled employees. In response to this, the Council has developed a useful resource outlining outreach ideas and innovative strategies, called Draw the World into your Workplace: Strategies for Building a Diverse Workforce (PDF).

To request a hard copy, please email the Petroleum Human Resources Council at info@petrohrsc.ca.

Increasing the Talent
One of the greatest challenges for the petroleum industry is meeting the ongoing demand for skilled labour in "hard-to-recruit" locations. These locations may be some distance from major populations centres, lacking amenities and spousal employment opportunities, and/or have a higher cost of living. To address this issue, the Petroleum HR Council has developed an innovative resource called Increasing the Talent.

The Increasing the Talent Toolkit will consist of:

  • Assess and Take Action tools and tips to help manager and HR practitioners recruit and retain the best people for their company.
  • Best and promising practices that showcase practical, detailed examples of how companies and organizations inside and outside the petroleum industry are solving HR problems.
  • Resources and "Did You Knows?" for more information.

Petroleum Competency Program
The Petroleum Competency Program (PCP) certifies workers in certain occupations within the petroleum industry. To date, the following occupations are included in the PCP:

  • Oil and Gas Transportation and Services
  • Well Testing Services
  • Snubbing Services

For more information on the PCP, visit the Petroleum HR Council and Enform websites.
